 ABOUT ME

Dear Reader,

I am pleased to inform you that you have found I Solemnly Swear I Am Reading a Book blog—where there’s always time for “just one more chapter,” and books are a perfectly acceptable reason to ignore the rest of the world.

I’m a former kindergarten teacher turned stay-at-home mom (and lifelong book lover). I spent 10 years in the classroom introducing young readers to the magic of stories, and while I’ve stepped away from teaching, that love for books has only grown stronger. Honestly, it might be a little out of control at this point.

I graduated from Sam Houston State University in 2014 with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a minor in Early Childhood–6th Grade Education. These days, I’m continuing my journey through the stacks as a graduate student working toward my master’s in Library Science, because clearly, I decided the only logical next step was to fully commit to a life surrounded by books.

At home, life is busy, loud, and full of love. I’m raising four amazing kids—three girls and one boy (ages 10, 8, 4, and 2) with my husband, who I’ve been with since I was 16 (so basically, we’ve been through our own lifetime of adventures together). Our house may be full of muggles, but that doesn’t stop me from wishing a quick Accio book when I can’t find my current read or Silencio during especially loud moments. Unfortunately, neither spell works as well as I’d like. ;)

You’ll find books in every corner of our home—on shelves, in baskets, stacked on nightstands, and probably in places they shouldn’t be. Between read-alouds, library trips, and sneaking in a few pages during nap time, stories are just part of our everyday life.

This blog is my own little corner of the wizarding world—no letter required. Here, I share book recommendations, thoughts, and favorites for parents, educators, and fellow readers. Whether you’re looking for the perfect children’s book, a family read, or something just for you, I hope you find a bit of magic here.
